WWT = 1 year old

in honor of wewearthings being 1 year old.. dru did an impromtu photoshoot with me and his landlord, fellow houston fashion blogger tramanh. it turned out being way more fun than anticipated.. and the results.. well dru deserves a big 'ol pat on the back.. for making me not look overly awkward. next shoot. we planz ahead.

euroshopping.

ok so i did do a little bit of shopping while on vacation.. but i'd say minimal. :) while i did do a bit of excessive vintage store shopping.. i only came out with 2 items.. the boots and the skirt (shown below).. and while i don't really think i'm a shoe person.. i ended up buying 3 pairs. some fabulous gladiator flats from h&m in london.. and a pair of black canvas sneakers that i just so happened to come upon.. while strolling le marais, i wandered into the bensimon shop.. which after googling back in the states.. happens to be a very coveted french shoe brand that all the local gals wear and it looks like even a few us boutiques are trying to carry them. and here i just thought they were a bit different.

i've been wanting to color my hair for awhile now.. less than a month ago i attempted to lighten it myself with some semi-permanent color to try it out.. but instead of lightening it, my hair actually got darker. COLOR FAIL.

so this weekend i finally made an appointment at the salon for a color change, the stylist suggested all over highlights to break up the black, to more of a medium brown, caramel-y color. my appointment was at 11am, and i didn't get out until 3:30pm. i guess i do have a lot of hair.. the end result? well with inside lighting you can't tell too much, but it's much more brown in the sun/natural light. it's a subtle difference, but i'm satisfied.

[edit] the hilarious part was when the hairdresser first took out the foils and there were blond streaks, he was like don't worry girl i'm not gonna turn you into one of THOSE AZN girls.

bottoms up.

when packing for vacations, i like to make sure i have a few great basics that i can easily mix and match tops with.. so that i can ultimately pack lighter... and buy more. :) so with a vacation coming up, i went ahead and picked up these 2 items this past weekend.

the first, the interlock highwaisted skirt from american apparel (in asphalt). it was my first time in the store, and i just so happened to come across the skirt on their website (which i never look at), but i saw it in one of their ads that shows up facebook, funny i know. anyways i still find aa as being overpriced cotton basics, and the store to be very sterile and cold, but i really like how the skirt can make everything look like a dress.. and i loves me some dresses. plus, i think it'll travel well.

the second, denim shorts from target. i've been looking for some denim shorts for weeks now. and it's either the wrong style, color, but most often the wrong fit. i've really been wanting a longer denim short with pleats. these didn't quite meet the longer side, but at least they're not the super short ones either. the pleats are very subtle and the color is not as dark as i'd like but i think they fit pretty well, and at target prices.. i'm sure i'll get some good use out of them.

it's unfortunate that the line above will be something i remember from my 27th birthday. but seriously i need to not let it get to me any more than it already has. time to get over it.

moving on, saturday was my birthday and i was surrounding by my OMGBFFs and a few other good friends/coworkers. dinner was at REEF, and well afterwards, you can read dru's blog for the details there.
anyways i had a great time being with my friends, as gatherings like these are always a great reminder of how awesome your friends are... and well my friends are the awesomest.

oh and i got 10 bottles of soju/sake for my birthday.... i guess to go with all my kdrama watching.

saturday lookbook

so saturday night me and T had 'date night'. and as you can see from the photo T was very enthusiastic about it... j/k it was actually his idea. we decided to eat at dolce vita, and i have to say it was much better the second time around. i highly recommend the egg toast with black truffle (but i [heart] anything with truffle). afterwards we went home and watched gone with the wind (surprisingly also his idea, no lie).

earlier on in the day we ran errands at memorial city. so i got to pull off 2 looks in one day, and with houston's 'fall' weather i was still able to pull off the mini dress.

it's been an interesting week.. and what a way to end the week then to be given a pat on the back for your fashion sense (for at least one outfit). i had been reading the fashion blog fabsugar for the better part of this year when a weeks ago i finally decided to make an account and on sunday.. decided to add a look to my lookbook. voila! score! Look of the day FTW!

style A_D_D.

when it comes to my sense of style i think i have A.D.D. on wednesday i went from a lil bit rock to a lil bit prep on thursday. i was actually quite determined to wear a different jacket everyday this week, but midweek the weather warmed up. actually it warmed up by midday each day. so i nixed that idea, but continued taking a daily photo. since we have no strict dress code at work (guys wear hats, shorts, i wear jeans and my reefs) and since an average of 5 people see me a day, i like to 'test out' outfits at work, before giving them a spin IRL. ps. yes i did get the idea of taking these photos from fabsugar's lookbook.
