This is where the hungry come to feed. For mine is a generation that circles the globe and searches for something we haven't tried before. So never refuse an invitation, never resist the unfamiliar, never fail to be polite and never outstay the welcome. Just keep your mind open and suck in the experience. And if it hurts, you know what? It's probably worth it.

i think i'll blame the urge to cook korean last night from my sudden influx of watching korean dramas as previously stated. either way i was quite impressed with my meal spread for a work night, and as a matter of fact it didn't take me that long at all. and it was more than satisfying to say the least. i know dru is bored with my random food blogging on here so i will spare the space by not including recipes on here. but doesn't mean i can't show it off. everything from scratch.. except well the kimchi. sure i was lacking by about 6 side dishes.. but it was a wednesday and i had a lot of tv to watch.

longest.night.ever

this weekend was packed full of nonchalant ungroundbreaking moments in real life... but fun nonetheless, and perhaps even memorable

all of the following events occured on saturday, september 16th:

woke up particularly later than usual, but drudgingly dragged myself out of bed, only to position myself in front of the television.. thereafter, the husband proceeded to make a light lunch for us both while watching the korean movie 'my girl and i' which follows the rules of korean dramas with a terminal illness and lots of tears. with a heavy heart, i decided i'd better start my afternoon which had been slightly preplanned as a dress shopping day with roz. ofcourse the second i called roz, so happened to be the exact moment at which she arrived at work. so i had a few hours to kill, and off i went to run errands, which consisted of finding a table cloth and candles... because you can never have enough pumpkin spice scented candles. and i needed a table cloth for the upcoming potluck on our brand new dining table. (i really wanted a table runner, but not enough time to find 'the perfect runner' so i settled for now)
immediately after returning home, off i went to meet roz in rice village. where i blocked traffic trying to make a left turn on University, and subsequently found parking in the shadiest lot there. saturday turned out to be extremely hot, and walking around rice village was probably not the best idea. i'm sure i looked like i had gone swimming when we got to my car. on a good move, we decided that shopping should continue.. indoors. at the galleria. i'm not sure if this was really a shopping trip, than more of a window shopping to kill time and wish that we made bigger salaries trip. yeah i think that was it. after the galleria we made our way to oishi, which is the most bang for your buck sushi place in houston. it was more than just satisfying to say the least.
upon returning home i spent the next hour and half trying on, retrying on, and pacing my closet.. trying to determine what to wear out.. and deciding that i have absolutely nothing to wear. i haven't, in a good long while purchased any clothing strictly for the reason to 'go out' in. well since practically college. so all 'going out' clothes from that period seems rather small and skimpy to todays standards. so i went with going casual... since the place we were headed to for Maria's pre-graduation party was called 'buddha lounge'. after waiting 30 more minutes for dru to arrive we were off to start off the evening.. only to find out that 290 was shut down, and us still having to pick up roz and eric. we took the back roads and picked up all participating parties and ended up safely at the location (not before teasing the valet by slowing down right in front of them, then speeding off to a parking spot). buddha lounge ended up being just that. strictly a lounge, but full of a more "mature" crowd of caucasians. and the vip area was rather compact.. which got old faster than an apple product.. so the crew was unanimous at continuing the night elsewhere. destination: the lounge, 5 minutes later i get a phone call that the destination has changed to venue. to downtown we go, to a club that nobody aparently knows how to get to, and when we find it. we're too lazy to look for parking, and pay cover. so destination: deco, and i'm pretty sure it's about 1am by the time we get inside. and deco was unusually busy on this night. and we saw quite a few familiar faces both welcomed and unwelcomed alike. afterwards yen really wanted to get something to eat.. so we went to Mai's only to be defeated by the long line to wait for a table. replacement? Jack in the Box. with an almost equally long line in the drive thru. once the food was purchased we went all ghetto and ate it in the parking lot like the hoodlums we are. the night has been dubbed. the.longest.night.ever. and i'd have to agree. for now.

the amalgamation of me.

the other day i was thinking about how i just like too much... maybe i need to focus on one thing... or not. here are some examples. of the random and sometimes contradictory things that make up me.

issa says:

yay training!! i'm the panda with the light saber.
Marko says:
use the force young panda-won

so i have been reviewing a few projects at once. and as i have been back and forth to the dev aka timoteo's office, i have left a panda on his huge dry erase board, dispersed amongst a jumble of code.. i have left 4 so far. one holding a stick pointing to a group of code. hence the panda with light saber reference above. besides getting geeky references and laughing along with my coworkers whom i make fun of for being total l337 gamers, the fact that i can understand l337 sp34k 4nD @l50 74lk 1yK3 7hi5 is as far into dorkdom than i want to become. i have more own range of dorkiness, being anime. _ub3rd0rk_

so saturday was a busy day with friends. had our 'married couple' friends over for lunch. then roz and d came over for dinner and to watch the game. it was actually quite the homemaker day for me. entertaining, home cooking, and going to a craft show too. got some ideas from the craft show, but i still need to head to the fabric store so i can start making a halloween costume for the hubby. last sunday i went to hobby lobby and saw that they had all their fall decor out and were almost done stocking for christmas and i was ecstatic, time to decorate. and over the past week i decided upon some awesome crafts to make, i can't wait. _domesticatedDiva_

so saturday night dru (whom has enlisted me as personal stylist A) stopped by before going out, and i 'styled' his hair for him. yay! on sunday went to the galleria with my mom to begin the hunt for a dress to wear to my cousins wedding coming up in november.. helped mom find some possibilities.. whereas i have spent an absurd amount of time keeping up with the trends, checking out runway shows online, but there was no luck for me so far. i blame my size and/or cashflow. but i will continue that hunt with roz this weekend. _pseudoFashionista_

so i have a variance of music which is pretty much as much of a variance of my interests, depending on my mood will be the choice of my music. sometimes emo, sometimes alternativerock, sometimes r&b, sometimes trance, sometimes jazz, and sometimes opera, etc. i especially like to listen to the crooners while i'm cooking or am at home relaxing. i often get quite a few cravings mainly for things like pate and brie and hor'derves, with my favorite appetizer being foie gras (seared).. i'd like to think that i have impeccable taste when it comes to music and foods, which is probably far from reality... but listening to opera and eating some stinky cheese and fruit makes me feel that much more magniloquent. _ part time (music snob + food snob) = pretentiousBastard_

there's probably other things about me that are equally random that have not been included. but these are all the things i can think of at the moment.

it's the formula.

Lately I have been hooked on watching Korea 'dramas', i guess i have jumped onto the bandwagon.. and it seems of the ones that I have seen 'rooftop cat', 'my name is sam-soon' and most currently 'full house'. rooftop cat/full house have a similar premise.. with some revelance in sam-soon as well.

  • average chick with attitude ends up in not so good situation but meets popular dude also with attitude and a bit cocky.
  • average chick and popular dude end up in a situation that requires them to be in constant close proximatey where they annoy the heck out of each other, and bicker to no end.
  • all the while, popular dude is after popular chick whom likes popular dude #2, and at this time average chick begins liking popular dude.
  • popular dude #2 begins to like average chick, which brings popular dude to find out he likes average chick too. so both dudes like average chick and popular chick is left out.
  • popular dudes will be distinguished by one having long hair and the other being clean cut.
  • average chick will constantly be angry and start huffing and leave mouth open for extended periods of time.
so it seems in Korea it rocks to be the average chick.
